The effect of MTAD on the apical leakage of obturated root canals: an electrochemical study

چکیده
The smear layer was first described by McComb in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) study. The smear layer consists of organic and inorganic substances, including fragments of odontoblastic processes, dentinal shaving, microorganisms, and necrotic materials. Presence of this smear layer prevents penetration of intracanal medication into the irregularities of the root canal system and the dentinal tubules and also prevents complete adaptation of obturation materials to the prepared root canal surfaces. Its removal calls for a combination of irrigating solutions as, presently, one solution cannot dissolve both organic and inorganic debris. Upon the completion of instrumentation, a high volume final flush with ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) solution followed by NaOCl was found to be most effective in removing The effect of MTAD on the apical leakage of obturated root canals: an electrochemical study

The effect of irrigation solutions on the apical sealing ability in different root canal sealers.
The aim of this study was to assess the effect of three root canal irrigation solutions on the apical sealing ability of three root canal obturation materials: gutta-percha/AH plus or MM-seal and Resilon/Epiphany SE. A total of 100 teeth with single straight root canals were randomly divided into three equal groups of 30 samples each, with the other 10 teeth (5 positive and 5 negative) used as ...
متن کاملEffect of Post-space Preparation with Rotary Devices and Heated Instruments on Microbial Leakage of Gutta-percha and Resilon-Epiphany Obturated Canals
Introduction: After endodontic procedures, root canal reinfection is a main concern for dentists. However, application of a proper apical seal can prevent such contamination. Therefore, it seems necessary to study the factors affecting the development of a suitable apical seal. Materials and Methods: In this study, 64 extracted human single-canal premolars were used. An equal length of roots wa...
متن کاملThe effect of MTAD as a final root canal irrigants on the coronal bacterial leakage of obturated root canals
The major goal of root canal treatment is to remove irritants from the root canal system, to obturate the cleaned and shaped root canals, and to prevent recontamination. Ray and Trope proposed that coronal microleakage may be a major cause of endodontic failure. Many previous studies have examined that coronal leakage might occur, even in well obturated root canals. One of the most important co...
متن کاملEffect of different irrigation regimens on the evaluation of apical sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the apical sealing ability of different irrigation regimens (NaOCl, CHX, NS, and MTAD) . Methods: Seventy intact extracted single-rooted human teeth were selected. The roots were resected at 3 mm short of the apical foramen after access preparation. The canals were prepared with profile. This rotary file moved forward into the apical for...
